Removable Dentures

A removable denture (as the name implies) is easy for you to take out, while a fixed denture can only be removed at the dental office. It can be partial or full removable denture.

It's important to understand the basics of what a removable partial denture is. To make a simple analogy, it's somewhat like a retainer. After you have braces, your dentist will usually give you a retainer, often made of plastic material with metal clasps, to keep your teeth in their new position. A removable partial denture looks similar, with a component that rests on the soft tissue of your mouth and clasps that hold onto your teeth. The key difference, though, is that there are one or more artificial teeth attached to fill in the gaps in your smile.

Complete dentures can be either "conventional" or "immediate." Made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has begun to heal, a conventional denture is ready for placement in the mouth about eight to 12 weeks after the teeth have been removed.

Digital Dentures

Digital dentures are dentures that are created from start to finish…digitally.

The impressions are done using digital scanning of the mouth, and the dentures are designed, based on these scans, in a computer and then printed using 3D printing technology.

Thanks to advancements in dental technology, the teeth of digital dentures are designed on software. This allows for complete individualization.

If you have a photo of the way your teeth used to look, this photo can be used to help customize the style of your digital denture teeth.

The digital denture process uses a scientifically proven way to assess how your teeth should bite together.

Snap-On Dentures

Snap-on Dentures look and feel like traditional, removable dentures. However, there are 2-4 locators on the under-side of your “plate,” which attach on top of implant abutments. Snap-on dentures are essentially dentures that snap in place. There’s no rocking, shifting, or rubbing because your implants keep the appliance secure.

When you wear a snap on denture, you’ll need to remove your appliance at night when you go to sleep. The routine care and maintenance is exactly like what you would expect with a traditional denture. Soak it in a cleansing solution overnight, brush it clean the next morning, and wipe your mouth with a washcloth before putting it back in.

Fixed Dentures

There are multiple reasons why patients lose their teeth, including gum disease and other dental complications. Prior to the invention of dental implants, dentures relied on a tiny bit of suction to stay in position. For those patients who required more retention, messy special adhesives or creams could be used. However, no matter which method was used movement and shifting resulted in disappointment and pain. After the advent of dental implants and a few decades of refinement we can attach Zirconium or Titanium prosthetic dentures to the implant thereby allowing patients to have restored aesthetics, function and comfort.

Benefits:

  • The ability to talk, chew, and bite with full functionality
  • Fixed implant dentures (All-on-4 or All-on-6) are much closer in contour and feel to natural teeth
  • This option allows the patient to enjoy a full set of teeth more naturally without self-consciousness or anxiety
  • They are screwed in, and don’t come out.
